Policy Dialogue for Health Reform

The policy dialogue on “Actionable Priority Agendas for Achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC)” was successfully held today in Dhaka, bringing together policymakers, health system experts, researchers, and development partners for a constructive discussion on Bangladesh’s pathway toward UHC.

The event was honored by the presence of the Honorable State Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. MA Muhit, who joined as Special Guest and emphasized the importance of actionable reforms to strengthen the health system and accelerate progress toward Universal Health Coverage.

The dialogue focused on several critical reform priorities, including:
• Strengthening Primary Health Care (PHC)
• Reducing high out-of-pocket health expenditure
• Addressing urban health governance challenges
• Reforming health financing mechanisms and institutional arrangements

The discussion highlighted the urgency of translating reform aspirations into clear implementation strategies and coordinated policy actions. Such platforms are essential to align stakeholders, generate policy momentum, and identify practical pathways for advancing health system reforms.

Grateful to all policymakers, experts, and participants who contributed their valuable insights to this important conversation on shaping a more equitable, efficient, and people-centered health system in Bangladesh.
